Wybourn Tip-still no action as safety fears mount

Font not the right size?

It is now nearly 3 months since I first raised the alarm about the problem of the disused tip on the Wybourn. The Council has recently made a token effort to make the site safe by installing plastic fencing. This however is totally inadequate and has already been blown over in the wind. There is also a “Road Closed” sign at the top of the street. There is still no sign of the site being cleared. Grass has grown on the mound so it is probably more stable now, but it still offers a massive temptation to local youth who will soon be finishing school for the summer and looking for things to do. Wrecked cars complete with broken glass, old fridges, tyres and miscellaneous junk offer further hazards. I believe the Council has a legal duty to secure this site properly. I don’t want to be saying “I told you so” after an accident occurs. I want the Council to make the site secure now.

I spoke to Councillor Lisa Baines about this last week so I will be sending her and Councillor Bryan Lodge, Cabinet Member for the Environment these pictures in the hope that action will soon be taken.20160713_15102920160713_150424 20160713_150448 20160713_150523 20160713_150545 20160713_150554 20160713_150632 20160713_150906
