Railway protest on Monday 5th January at Sheffield Station

Action for Rail are organising a protest at Sheffield Station at 8.00 on Monday 5th January. The Green Party are campaigning hard to bring the railways back into Public ownership so we agree with the main point of this demonstration. It will be good to see lots of Green Party supporters there. However we argue that HS2 is not the best way to spend £43 billion. It is much more important to invest in the commuter routes that are currently so overcrowded. (see Graham Wroe’s letter from Jan 2013)
