Here is a letter I received recently from the Council. Although I am a supporter of the scheme the Council scored a big own goal by destroying the trees without consulting the neighbours. I was surprised how many healthy trees had to be felled and this has made a difference, both to people’s views (we can now see right through to the college wind turbines from our house) and to noise from the city which the trees used to absorb. The Council need to be much more aware of how important mature trees are to Sheffield residents, and when they have to be felled warn them and explain the reasons before the lumberjacks are sent in.
