Eid Mubarak. Celebration at new Community Centre

It was a great honour to be invited to the Eid Celebration at the new Community Centre on Norfolk Road today. Work has progressed over many years on the building which was in a very poor condition when it was purchased for the community. It is now open and is being used as a meeting place and prayer space. Work on the cellar is very nearly complete and will soon host youth activities with pool, table tennis and playstation. Free maths tuition is also available at the centre. Work is soon to start on improving the garden. The Lord Mayor Councillor Fox, local Councillors Lisa Banes and Pat Midgley , Councillor Shaffaq Mohammed from the Liberal Democrats and myself were all present to congratulate the community on their efforts.
